Common Sense Platform

Many platforms exist to aid the development of business systems and solutions: after all, its common sense to avoid re-inventing the wheel. Many of these platforms are great and when appropriate we make use of them ourselves. However for us, they all lack one key thing: none of them were developed by us!

We wanted something of our very own, something we know inside-out. So we invested our energies in building what we've called the Common Sense Platform or CSP. So now when we build a solution with CSP we're using our own building blocks, component parts we know and trust.

CSP represents many years of experience. We've incorporated the best ideas and features we could and kept everything consistent with the name: it's all just common sense.

There are many advantages when working with CSP, including:

  • Shorter development projects development time and associated costs are greatly reduced.
  • Reliability CSP is a proven platform, thoroughly tested and in use 24/7/365 in live business-critical systems.
  • Consistency throughout, in such things as user interfaces, process and deployment.
  • Continuous development, CSP is now a mature platform but we haven't finished yet! We're always working on it- looking for improvements and efficiencies wherever we can.
  • Industry standards CSP is put together with proven industry leading tools including Microsoft .NET Framework and SQL server.
  • Cloud based solutions developed with CSP run in the cloud – using Microsoft Azure, Amazon (AWS) or even in your own private cloud. This brings with it all the associated benefits of running your solutions and services in the cloud.

Main features:

  • Asset management
  • All business systems work with a number of different types of entities or objects, such as: people/users, documents, invoices, properties, vehicles or orders. CSP uses the generic term 'asset' to denote any object like this that needs managing within a CSP solution.
    • Assets can be anything you need them to be; anything you need to manage or report on. Visibility of assets is subject to user role and permissions.
    • CSP has many common pre-defined types of assets that can be used to build from.
    • 'Metadata' can be associated with assets: any information you need to record or keep a track of. For example a vehicle asset might have details of registration number, driver, colour, location etc. Visibility and availablity of asset metadata is subject to user role and permissions.
    • Asset workflow capabilites. This is the implementaion of your business processes within the solution. Establish a process you need your asset to undertake and CSP has the building blocks necessary to implement this in the solution.
    • Free text notes can be added to any asset by users. Visibility of these notes is subject to user role and permissions.
    • Reference number assigment and auto-generation. You can define how your assets should be referenced and in what format: e.g. specify exactly what your 'order reference number' should look like.
  • Search
    • Assets and documents in CSP can be searched by users according to their role and permissions.
    • Fast indexing and categorisation
    • 'Fuzzy' search or find assets by defined reference numbers
  • Document management
    • Cloud storage (Amazon S3) Read more
    • Documents are treated as assets and as such within CSP have all the capabilities of assets detailed above.
    • Document auto-generation using asset data via definable templates. Output to common formats (e.g. Word, Excel, CSV, PDF)
    • Fast upload and download facilities

  • Business Intelligence
    • On-screen live reporting via interactive charts & tables.
    • PDF report generation

  • Security and Audit
    • User login account management: Login creation, self registration, enable/disable access etc.
    • Definable user profile data: e.g. address, job title, department, location etc.
    • Definable user roles and permissions
    • Full user activity audit log
    • Activity reporting and analysis
    • Built in system error logging, reporting and notifications
    • Error diagnosis and tracing tools
    • Web access secured via SSL/HTTPs
  • Branding
    • Clear & clean default styling
    • Fully customisable user interface / look and feel to your specification
  • Globalisation and localisation
    • Language selection by user login
    • Multi-currency support.
  • Notification
    • Users can be specifically targeted for notifications of any event that occurs within your business-processes defined in CSP.
    • Via HTML based emails: auto-generated with necessary asset and process data. Providing secure links for quick login directly to the necssary place within the system.
    • Via SMS: auto-generated with necessary asset and process data.
    • Via live on-screen 'pop-ups' directing users to take immediate action if necessary
  • Systems integration
    • Data Import & Export
    • CSP API & Web-services

  • Mobile working/multi-platform
    • Access via any internet connected device
    • iOS, Android, Windows Mobile etc.
    • 'Offline' working. CSP has capabilities which can be configured to allow users to continue working even when not connected to the internet. This is particularly useful in field data collection tasks.
